Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles - The Story of Why

If you've been following me on social media, or through my newsletters recently, you've probably seen a mention or two of Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles. This is a self-leadership program designed to guide your team though a series of transformative conversations, evolving your culture from the inside out. It has been designed to be delivered by those within the team or organisation, giving ownership of the process to the people who are undertaking it.

The seeds for Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles were sown about fifteen years ago, when I was working on a cultural transformation with a local council. The CEO was deeply curious to understand why people wanted to work there, and how to align people’s individual purpose with the organisational purpose. He wanted to create an environment where people felt comfortable (and enthusiastic about) bringing their whole selves to work. This curiosity led to inquiries about passion and purpose, and laid the foundation of a self-leadership program that resonates with heart and systemic wisdom.

Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles is deeply rooted in the experiences, challenges, and aspirations faced by individuals and organisations striving for a meaningful existence. It begins with the recognition that leadership and transformation are not mere top-down directives but an inside-out journey that each of us must embark upon.

Now more than ever, our workplaces are a canvas for cultivating cultures that are aligned with individual purpose and collective well-being. Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles is designed to create a space where participants can engage deeply, reflect critically, and transform collaboratively. This program helps individuals understand their unique contribution to their organisations and the world, fostering a culture of openness, trust, and authentic engagement.

The purpose of these Discovery Circles is to unlock the latent potential in individuals and teams, encouraging them to think beyond the status quo and imagine new possibilities. It’s about building a future where business not only thrives but also contributes positively to society and the environment.
