Dr Josie McLean's Changing Naturally programs help organisations build adaptive, resilient workplace cultures through leadership development at every level. The programs are delivered nationally for government agencies, local councils, universities and purpose-driven organisations.
What makes Changing Naturally different from traditional change management?
Changing Naturally works with the natural adaptive capacity already present in your people, rather than treating change as a project to be controlled. Contrary to the received MBA wisdom, the ability to adapt is an ever-present potential in every person and organisation.
Grounded in complexity science and living systems thinking, the programs equip leaders to work with emergence rather than against it.
Who are the Changing Naturally programs for?
The Changing Naturally programs are designed for organisations navigating restructures, digital transformation, sustainability initiatives or cultural renewal. They suit every level of leadership, from executives shaping culture to team leaders engaging their people day to day.
Past clients include local councils, state government agencies, universities and community organisations across Australia.
What do participants gain from the Changing Naturally programs?
Participants build the mindset, language and practical skills to lead adaptive change. Specifically, they gain:
Confidence to lead through uncertainty and ambiguity.
Practical tools for influencing without relying on formal authority.
A shared language for adaptive change across leadership levels.
Observable shifts in team engagement and culture over time.

Purposeful Cultures: Discovery Circles or Workshop
FOR EVERYONE: An opportunity to engage everyone in contributing their best to your organisational purpose. It will equip each participant with the confidence and awareness to lead themselves better and support their own satisfaction, creativity and well-being at work.
Each program may be delivered as stand-alone leadership development that enables ongoing change. Together, these programs will shape a workplace culture that is adaptive and resilient and supports each person’s well-being and capacity to contribute all they can. In the process, participants in change processes become more engaged, creative and satisfied.
How could organisational change be ?
“Tomorrow’s more disruptive world is emerging - quickly. To keep up, all managers need to be effective change leaders.”
Each enterprise experiences the rapidly changing context differently, but some examples include:
Team members are tired and cynical - and more change is required.
Specific projects are failing.
Employees must change their daily work patterns to adapt to issues such as artificial intelligence, cyber security risks, and climate change.
The organisational culture must evolve to attract and retain highly engaged staff.
What if we could remove some of the weight from the executive team’s shoulders?
What if the process of changing also grew your people, their engagement and satisfaction in the process?
What if change became continuous, fluid and natural?
Humans all have a natural ability to change.
Contrary to the received MBA wisdom, change, or the ability to adapt, is an ever-present potential in every person and organisation.
We understand and work with the natural forces within each person, team, and organisation. And we will work with you and your people to help them understand how to do this.
Handing ‘change’ off to a Change Manager has appeal, but for the greatest effectiveness, ‘change’ needs to become a standard leadership activity.
